New solo record coming soon...

Simon York will be releasing a new solo album titled More Than Just Movements, as part of a new project. The target is for release on 4th August 2025 for the album, with a single video released in July and an EP of additional material (as a 'bookend') following the album... "In August 2024, I suddenly lost my mum due to complications following a recent cancer diagnosis – I also suffered an extreme leg injury, plus there were various other things going on which were affecting the band which also affected me personally. So, rather than lay it all on LS work, in April this year I started working on some piano and experimental instrumental pieces – some of which turned into songs and then I went from there. I finished recording in May and started prepping the project for a release. I'm an artist and this is what I do... plus, in a world where everything is going up in price but working wages are not, I see this as another way of gaining revenue for funding Luxury Stranger products." 

More Than Just Movements is the follow-up to to the 2021 / 2023 album "Uh-Huh..." : "That record was another 'coping mechanism' as well as a 're-education' for me – a lot of awful stuff had happened around that time (it seems to be an ongoing theme...!) plus I started to lose my confidence in who and what I am, so I felt I needed to 'retrain'... and that resulted in "Uh-Huh..."  – it helped me as well as help shape the continuity of Luxury Stranger going forward..." 

Sometimes referred to by LS fans as the 'unofficial fourth Luxury Stranger album', "Uh-Huh..."  was originally a 'listen online' release for only three days in February 2021. "I probably was being pretentious (or petulant) but I just wanted to try and make music a little more important – in the way it is to me – by trying to raise its exclusivity. I'd gone through some dark times and I guess I was just feeling so frustrated with a lot of things. After many requests for its full release, "Uh-Huh..."  was released in 2023 through Earth-Two Records. The response from fans was brilliant – and meant so much to me when thinking about what had been going on behind the scenes. It's one of my favourite records but I've never really wanted to be a solo artist – I prefer being the driving force of LS" .
